Perhaps it sounds trite or exaggerated to say that my life has been significantly changed by Pat Metheny's music. Nevertheless, it is true. The music of the Pat Metheny Group has penetrated deep into my soul and given me more long lasting satisfaction than any other musician or group. Clearly, there is a strong motivation for writing this book, especially since I know of no other book about Pat. It is also true to say that I am not alone in my personal experiences with this special kind of jazz-fusion music. Many of my friends have been similarly affected and, unusually for a jazz musician, the effect seems equally pronounced on women as on men...Ken Trethewey.
