Standard Terms and Conditions of Contract

Self Publishing Direct.co.uk is a trading name of Bookbinding Direct part of Keele University, Staffordshire ST5 5BG United Kingdom

The Terms and Conditions listed shall apply between Self Publishing Direct / Bookbinding Direct (The Printer) and its customers (The Customer) and shall govern the contract to the exclusion of any other express or implied conditions

No contract shall exist until we accept an official order placed by 'The Customer' in writing and a deposit for work to be completed as listed in our Terms and Conditions.
Any quotation or estimate we submit for approval by 'The Customer' is given subject to the Terms and Conditions listed and does not constitute an offer to supply goods or services to 'The Customer'.

Prices The prices listed on this web site supersede all other price lists and are subject to change without prior notice. Prices listed are exclusive of VAT. Estimates are based on our current production costs and are valid for 30 days from the estimate date.

Tax VAT is zero rated for books and magazines (subject to content), stationery items including diaries and calendars and all courier charges are subject to VAT at the standard rate.

Electronic Files It is 'The Customers' responsibility to maintain a copy of any files submitted for printing. We 'The Printer' accept no liability for loss of data from files supplied in either digital or hardcopy. ALWAYS KEEP A COPY OF YOUR FILES.

Proof Copy Proof copies are submitted to 'The Customer' for their approval, we 'The Printer' shall incur no liability for any errors which have not been brought to our attention by 'The Customer' in 'Proof Copies' which have been approved. Alterations and additional proof copies necessitated after approval by 'The Customer' may incur additional charges.
Colour Proofs due to the differences in the production processes used for the production of proof copies and production runs, a reasonable level of variation in colour between colour proofs and the completed print-run will be deemed acceptable unless otherwise agreed.

Delivery Unless otherwise specified the price quoted on our estimate is inclusive of delivery to one UK Mainland address, additional charges will be made for non UK Mainland deliveries. Carriage is normally Next Day delivery unless otherwise advised.

Damage in Transit Where delivery to 'The Customer' is arranged by 'The Printer' damage or loss of goods during transit must be reported in writing to 'The Printer' within three days of from the date of dispatch. Advice of non-delivery must be given within 28 days from the date of dispatch. We 'The Printer' shall not be liable for any claim relating to damage or loss of goods unless the aforementioned requirements have been complied with.

HOME

Payment A deposit of not less than 50% of the total order value should be paid when placing the order (after the proof copy has been approved by 'The Customer'). The balance will be charged for by invoice, payable no later than 30 days from the invoice date. Where a contract is designated by 'The Printer' as a credit sale, payment in full will be charged by invoice payable no later than 30 days from the invoice date.
All payments must be made payable to 'Keele University' and posted to: Bookbinding Direct, Keele University, Staffordshire ST5 5BG.

Copyright & Content By submitting material to 'The Printer' you represent and warrant at all times during the term of this agreement that the content of material submitted meets the following criteria:
Is owned by you 'The Customer' or, if owned by someone else, that you have permission from them to provide the content to 'The Printer' for printing.
That the content does not contain any personal data / information about any other individual other than you, or that you have their permission to provide such content to 'The Printer' for printing.
That the content does not violate any copyright, trademark, trade secret or other intellectual property rights of any third party.
That the content does not invade any individual's right of privacy or publicity.
That the content does not contain material that is unlawful, obscene, defamatory, pornographic, indecent, lewd, harassing, threatening, harmful, inflammatory or abusive.
That the content does not break the law, facilitate breaking the law or violate any regulation as listed.
'The Printer' reserves the right to refuse work submitted by 'The Customer' for printing at its discretion if deemed that 'The Customer' is in violation of the terms and conditions as listed.

Performance 'The Printer' warrants that products and services supplied by it shall at the time of delivery be reasonably fit for their purpose (to the extent that such purpose has been made known to 'The Printer' and agreed). Where products or services do not conform to this standard 'The Printer' will at its option take such steps as deemed necessary to rectify any defects or refund the appropriate part of the purcahse price as deemed necessary by 'The Printer'.
Provided that the liability of 'The Printer' shall in no event exceed the total price paid by 'The Customer', and performance of either of the above options shall constitute an entire discharge of 'The Printer's' liability under this warranty.

Web Linking, Author Web Pages, Bookstore: We provide links to other web sites from our pages for information only. Web sites owned or managed by 'The Printer' do not warrant, approve or endorse the information or products available at these third party web sites or accept any liability for the services offered by such sites.

Acceptance of material for print purposes does not guarantee acceptance of material for inclusion in our 'Bookstore'. We reserve the right to refuse material offered by third parties for inclusion in our 'Bookstore' subject to content.
